For the first time in 8 months I decided to do a timed one-mile run. The last time, I completed it in 7:48 which was embarrassingly slow for me. My personal best time of 5:30 was accomplished during either my junior or senior year of high school. While I don’t think I will, at age 35, best a running record I set when I was 17-18 I think that it’s realistic for me to take a minute off of my current time, 7:14.
As with everything, consistency is the key, but I am only going to run on the days that I don’t do Jiu Jitsu so that I do some form of cardio work almost every day. I’m curious to see how long it will take for me to reduce my mile to 6:14 and what the accompanying cardio benefit will do for my Jiu Jitsu training.
